Arsenal fans showed their frustration with Martin Zubimendi after a serious error led to the "Gunners" paying the price in the 2-3 defeat against Manchester United.
The incident happened just minutes after Arsenal took the lead thanks to an own goal by Lisandro Martinez. Bryan Mbeumo capitalized on Zubimendi's individual error to equalize for Man United. The Spanish midfielder attempted a pass with William Saliba in defense while being pressured by Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes. Then, Zubimendi passed back to goalkeeper David Raya, but the ball went straight to Mbeumo's feet.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Man United star easily beat Raya and scored, sparking outrage among Arsenal fans.
One fan commented: “Unacceptable. Saliba and especially Zubimendi handled it very poorly.”
Another supporter wrote: “How many times has Zubimendi made this kind of mistake this season? Too careless, he should leave Arsenal immediately.”
Meanwhile, another opinion expressed frustration: “How many more times is he going to repeat these errors? It's really annoying.”
Some fans even sarcastically remarked: “Zubimendi has done this about 30 times this season. I don't think he's good enough to play for Arsenal, he should leave soon.”
In the end, Man United secured a 3-2 victory thanks to a spectacular goal by Matheus Cunha in the final minutes. This is not the first time Zubimendi has been criticized for personal mistakes. Previously, he lost possession leading to a goal against Tottenham, despite Richarlison scoring a stunning strike from over 40 meters. Additionally, the midfielder committed dangerous fouls that caused Arsenal to suffer from set-piece situations against Liverpool and Sunderland.
In another match in the Champions League, Zubimendi nearly gifted a goal to Bayern Munich when the ball deflected off him into a favorable position for Harry Kane, although the English striker failed to capitalize on the chance.
A series of consecutive mistakes has made Zubimendi the focus of criticism and raised many concerns about the stability of Arsenal’s midfield and defense during this crucial stage of the season.
