The Emirates Stadium has been the toughest away ground in the Premier League this season, yet Manchester United made the challenge much easier, with Bryan Mbeumo standing out on the scoresheet.
Following a convincing 2-0 victory over Manchester City in last week's derby, Manchester United continued their excellent form against Arsenal. At Emirates, the “Red Devils” won 3-2, climbing to fourth place in the standings and making the title contenders look somewhat inferior.
Arsenal barely created any significant chances, relying instead on a chaotic set-piece and an own goal to level the match. In contrast, Manchester United showed notable sharpness in attack, with Bryan Mbeumo continuing to find the net.
A week after scoring in the derby, Mbeumo was again one of MU’s best performers in the win against Arsenal. This marked his ninth goal across all competitions this season, with a finish of very high quality. In fact, this form has been consistent throughout the campaign for Mbeumo. The Cameroonian striker has scored against Liverpool, Manchester City, and most recently Arsenal, along with another goal against Tottenham.
Mbeumo is gradually becoming an indispensable figure in Manchester United’s big matches, much like Bruno Fernandes. He always knows how to shine at crucial moments and step up for the team, as clearly demonstrated by his goal against Arsenal.
According to Opta statistics, scoring against MU’s three biggest rivals has helped Mbeumo become the first Manchester United player to achieve this feat in his debut season since Robin van Persie in 2012/13. Moreover, Mbeumo is the first MU player overall to reach this milestone in the last three years, since Marcus Rashford did so in the 2022/23 season.
With the 3 points gained, Manchester United rose to fourth place in the league table, surpassing Chelsea and Liverpool in the race for the top 4. Under coach Michael Carrick, the “Red Devils” have won both of their opening Premier League matches, against Manchester City and Arsenal respectively, two of the strongest teams in the league.
