Head coach Diego Giustozzi of Vietnam's futsal team confirmed their resolve to get through the group stage at the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship.
On the afternoon of January 26, Vietnam's futsal team held a press conference ahead of their opening match against Kuwait in Group B of the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship.
At the start of the press conference, Coach Diego Giustozzi emphasized:“There are many teams in Asia ready to win against any opponent. In fact, some teams not even qualifying for the finals can still secure victories. Therefore, our goal is to pass the group stage. I can't think about the second or third matches right now; we must focus on the first game. Because if you don’t play with 100% effort and full concentration, you can lose to any team.”
Reflecting on the defeat at the 2024 AFC Futsal Championship, the Argentine coach admitted it was a valuable lesson for the whole team:“We are trying a new approach, with a more attacking, younger, and more passionate lineup, though still not fully balanced. We need to help the players become more balanced and complete. However, we firmly believe this is the right path towards the 2028 World Cup,”Coach Diego Giustozzi shared.
Regarding the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship,Coach Giustozzi commented: “The team needs more playing time to gain experience for these players. We believe in them, even though 6-7 players are only 20-21 years old," he said.
On the other side, Kuwait's futsal head coach, Mr. Bruno Garcia, affirmed: “Our team is a new generation, with some experienced players taking on new roles and some newcomers still lacking experience,” the strategist shared. "But we will try to control the situation against Vietnam and in all upcoming matches.”
On the afternoon of January 26, Vietnam's futsal team will have their final training session before the opening match against Kuwait in Group B.
