Just returned to the country, the U23 Vietnam star immediately announced his departure from the club.

After almost ten years of commitment, midfielder Nguyễn Thái Sơn formally parted ways with Đông Á Thanh Hóa, ending a journey full of cherished memories with his local club.

On the evening of January 26th, Thái Sơn posted an emotional message on his personal page, confirming his departure from Thanh Hóa, where he grew up since the early days of his professional football pursuit. For this young midfielder, nearly 10 years wearing the Thanh Hóa jersey was not just about playing time but also a part of his youth, intertwined with the first steps of his career and important life lessons.

On his personal Facebook page, Thái Sơn expressed: “So now it’s time to say farewell here. Nearly 10 years attached to my hometown club is not just a sports journey, but a part of my youth spent in this place.

I sincerely thank the Board of Directors of Đông Á Thanh Hóa Club, the coaching staff, and all my teammates who have always trusted and stood by me through every training session, match, and every high and low moment. They have guided and supported me not only on the field but also in life. I also want to extend my gratitude to the sincere and passionate fans of our hometown football who have always accompanied me and the club.

Thank you for the beautiful memories. Forever proud to be a part of this place. I wish the Board of Directors, the coaches, and all my teammates at Đông Á Thanh Hóa good health and great success. With respect and gratitude.”

Nguyễn Thái Sơn is a standout product of Thanh Hóa’s youth academy system. Rising through the youth ranks, he gradually proved himself in the V-League and quickly earned a reputation as one of Vietnam’s most promising central midfielders. Not only making an impact at club level, Thái Sơn has also been a key figure in the national youth teams. At SEA Games 33 and the 2026 U23 Asian Championship finals, he played a major role in U23 Vietnam’s achievements thanks to his composed style, midfield control, and relentless fighting spirit.

Thái Sơn’s new career stop is with Ninh Bình club. Previously, the ancient capital team announced the successful signing of this midfielder along with two others, Lê Văn Thuận and Nguyễn Ngọc Mỹ.
