Ronaldo sends a championship challenge message to Al Nassr

After defeating Al Taawoun, Cristiano Ronaldo addressed his Al Nassr teammates, expressing his strong resolve to secure the first domestic trophy since joining the Middle East club.

Although he has scored as many as 960 goals in his illustrious career, Cristiano Ronaldo still could not add to his goal tally against Al Taawoun. Instead, coach Jorge Jesus's team had to rely on an own goal from Mohammed Al Dossary to secure all 3 points, thus continuing their pursuit in the title race. Sadio Mane made a notable impact on his return to Al Nassr after AFCON 2025, while goalkeeper Bento faced almost no challenges throughout the 90 minutes. This win is regarded as a very positive result for Al Nassr, given that Al Taawoun has been one of the season's surprises and currently sits fifth in the standings.

After the match, Ronaldo posted a message to his teammates on social media. At 40 years old, the Portuguese superstar emphasized that this is not the time to lose focus, sharing: “Step by step. Fully focused on our goal.”

Besides his desire to help Al Nassr finish the season at the top of the table, Ronaldo also hopes to claim the top scorer spot in the Saudi Pro League. Currently, the 1985-born star shares the lead with Julian Quinones of Al Qadsiah at 16 goals, while Ivan Toney of Al Ahli trails closely with 15 goals.

Quinones has been in excellent form this season and expressed gratitude to his teammates for helping him reach the top of the scoring chart. He said: “As I said before, these are just numbers. The support from my teammates is crucial for me to compete for the top scorer title. I owe everything to them and the coaching staff. This achievement comes from the effort of the whole team. I thank them and also the technical staff for their work. But as I mentioned, the most important thing is the collective and maintaining this level of performance.”

According to the schedule, Ronaldo and Al Nassr will aim for another 3 points this weekend when they return to Saudi Pro League action in round 18, facing Al Kholood.
