Chelsea can forget it: Fermin has extended his contract with Barcelona until 2031, with a salary increase and a doubled release clause.

Transfer specialist Romano recently revealed that Barcelona and the 22-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder Fermin are set to complete a contract renewal this week, extending his tenure to 2031 from the original 2029 expiration.

Romano states that Fermin agreed to Barcelona’s new contract offer on Monday, with the signing expected to happen within the week. Following the successful renewal, Fermin’s salary will be raised, and his release clause will double from €500 million to €1 billion.

Chelsea attempted to sign Fermin last summer but only offered €40 million, an amount Barcelona outright rejected. Additionally, Fermin is a favorite of Flick and has contributed 10 goals and 10 assists in 25 matches across all competitions this season. Apart from Yamal (11 goals and 11 assists), he is the player most involved in Barcelona’s goals this season and is considered indispensable by the club.

From my perspective, Fermin is an excellent asset for Barcelona’s offensive battles. His passing and shooting skills are outstanding, especially his long-range shooting, which is often effective against compact defenses. At just 22 years old, he still has room to improve and complements the injury-prone Olmo well, helping Barcelona better handle multiple competitions simultaneously.
