Manchester United qualifying for the Champions League could bring in £175 million! Carrick’s training demonstration amazed the players—“If you can’t do it, I’ll step in.”

If Manchester United manage to secure Champions League qualification this season and consistently participate in it in the future, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS team stand to gain £175 million in sponsorship revenue. Therefore, after Carrick led the team to victory over Arsenal, Sir Jim met with him, clearly aiming to motivate both him and the squad to keep pushing towards a top-four or top-five finish this season.

Manchester United last played in the Champions League at the end of 2023, when Ten Hag’s team was eliminated in the group stage. In the following two seasons, the club finished 8th and 15th in the Premier League, missing out on Champions League qualification consecutively. Amolin’s 0-1 loss to Tottenham in last season’s Europa League final marked the first time since 2014/15 that the club completely missed out on European competitions.

However, fans are now optimistic that Manchester United will return to the Champions League spots this season. Currently sitting fourth, if they maintain this position until the end of the season, they will definitely qualify for the Champions League next season. Even fifth place in the Premier League has a strong chance of Champions League qualification, as five of the six Premier League teams in this season’s Champions League have already advanced to the knockout stage.

According to the latest industry research from the "European Stadium Naming Rights Fair Market Value Report," if Manchester United secures Champions League participation, the new stadium planned by Sir Jim could generate astonishing revenue through naming rights sales. The naming rights for the "New Trafford" could reach £15 million annually, setting a new record in England, surpassing the £12.5 million per year deals of both the new Wembley and the Emirates Stadium.

The Sun reports that if Manchester United can maintain the momentum under Carrick and guarantee annual Champions League participation, total naming rights revenue could exceed £175 million. The Champions League itself also brings substantial income; United earned £691 million last year, but due to missing out on the Champions League, their broadcasting revenue fell sharply from £224 million to £179 million.

Therefore, Carrick faces a heavy responsibility and must continue the strong start he has made as coach. British media revealed that the 44-year-old Carrick not only arranged shorter, more intense training sessions but also demonstrated impressive skills to the players, leaving the entire team in awe. Carrick seems qualified to warn his players: "If you can't do it, then I'll take the field myself!"

It is reported that during Manchester United’s training sessions, Carrick personally participates in various drills. In one passing exercise, his superb technique astonished veteran Harry Maguire. "He still demonstrates in passing drills and can effortlessly thread passes through defenses just like in his playing days," said Maguire. "A few days ago, he showed two passes. Everyone else did about 300, but I think his two were the best! He’s still sharp and fully committed in training."

Maguire praised the comprehensive abilities Carrick has displayed since returning to coach Manchester United. "I knew he would do this because I know Michael and how he worked when he was part of Ole’s coaching staff. His speeches in the locker room were always very articulate, and back then, he was just a rookie coach. So, when he came back this time, neither his style of speaking nor how he ran meetings surprised me at all."

Nineteen-year-old Manchester United young center-back Aiden Haven has received special training arranged by the coaching staff, with Jonny Evans and Jonathan Woodgate providing significant support. Carrick has implemented one-on-one coaching sessions during training for specific players, and the team has responded positively to this new approach.

Haven said, "It’s really great, especially with Jonny (Evans) helping me a lot. After some full-team training sessions with Lenny (Yaro), we get extra practice focusing on fundamentals. During breaks, they always pull me aside to help adjust my positioning. So far, I’ve really enjoyed this experience."
