Paul Pogba might face contract termination

Once a symbol of the world's midfield, at 32 years old, Pogba still appears unable to break free from the shadow of injuries and prolonged issues.

Paul Pogba's career continues to experience gloomy moments as the French midfielder faces the risk of being quickly listed for transfer by AS Monaco, just months after joining Ligue 1.

Joining Monaco on a free transfer last summer, Pogba signed a two-year contract after serving an 18-month doping ban. This was seen as a chance for the 2018 World Cup winner to start fresh, prove his worth, and regain his top-level playing form. However, reality has not met these expectations.

Since the start of the season, Pogba has only appeared in 3 matches, totaling just 30 minutes on the pitch. Persistent fitness issues have made it nearly impossible for him to contribute to Monaco's overall gameplay. According to Italian media, especially La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club’s management is beginning to lose patience.

Currently, Pogba remains sidelined due to a calf injury sustained during training last month. Although initially assessed as a minor injury, he has ended up missing 7 consecutive matches, including a notable Champions League clash against Juventus — his former club, which was involved in many controversies with Pogba following his doping ban.

Monaco’s coach Sebastien Pocognoli remains patient and sympathetic towards his player. He believes that Pogba’s return to the field after a dark period is commendable and confirms that the French midfielder is still part of the long-term plan if he achieves optimal fitness. Nevertheless, at the elite level of football, time and patience are luxuries.

If he fails to quickly regain his condition and form, the prospect of Pogba having to find a new club becomes entirely possible. At that point, a big question arises: does the football world still have a place for a Paul Pogba who was once at the peakbut is now continually worn down by time, injuries, and poor decisions?
