Vietnam team lineup
Although not yet at their best form, Vietnam’s futsal team achieved their goal by winning all 3 points against Kuwait in the opening match, gaining a significant advantage in the race to reach the quarterfinals of Group B. If they defeat Lebanon in the second round, especially if Thailand likely beats Kuwait, the group standings will be decided early, allowing Vietnam’s futsal team to secure a place in the next round before the final matchday.
On the other hand, Lebanon’s futsal team, after losing to Thailand, must earn points to keep their hopes alive for the quarterfinals. Another loss would almost certainly end the West Asian team’s journey in the tournament.
In terms of strength and past results, Vietnam’s futsal team is rated higher. In the 2025 qualifiers, Diego Giustozzi’s team defeated Lebanon 4-0. However, Lebanon is now coached by Ricardo Iñiguez Calabuig, focusing on tight defense after their 0-2 loss to Thailand.
For Vietnam’s futsal team, the narrow win against Kuwait served as an important warning. Despite scoring 5 goals, the team showed many defensive and ball control errors. This will be a challenge Coach Diego Giustozzi must address quickly to aim for a more convincing victory against Lebanon.
