Although Manchester United is displaying encouraging progress, a certain star is resolved to depart due to losing his place in the team's strategy.
Tyrell Malacia has become a frequently mentioned name at Old Trafford as the Dutch left-back seeks to exit Manchester United during the final days of the winter transfer window. According to Voetbal International, Malacia and his agent are urgently searching for a new club, after a long period of being sidelined at the Red Devils.
In fact, Malacia had a chance to leave last summer, but nothing was finalized. Some sources in Turkey reported that MU agreed to loan the 27-year-old to Eyüpspor. However, Malacia declined because he did not want to leave the Premier League and chose to stay and fight for his position.
That decision proved risky early on. Under coach Ruben Amorim, Malacia was almost completely excluded from plans. He played just two minutes in the Premier League win over Newcastle on Boxing Day, then remained on the bench for subsequent matches.
Coaching staff changes further clouded Malacia’s future. Amorim left Old Trafford, and Michael Carrick was appointed as his replacement. However, the Dutch defender’s situation did not improve. In MU’s impressive wins against Man City and Arsenal, he was not utilized, indicating Malacia is not a tactical priority.
Carrick currently trusts Luke Shaw and has several other options for the left flank. This makes it difficult for Malacia to compete for a starting spot, forcing him to seek an exit. His goal is to play regularly in the second half of the season.
According to Voetbal International, Malacia is attracting interest from clubs in Italy, Turkey, and MLS. An American team has even made concrete moves to approach him. The source suggests that Malacia’s departure from MU is “very likely in the final days” if he moves to Italy or Turkey, although nothing is finalized yet.
