The Vietnam futsal team is optimistic ahead of the match to decide the top spot in the group at the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship finals.
Having secured a place in the quarterfinals early after two consecutive wins over Kuwait and Lebanon, the Vietnam futsal team is preparing for the final group stage match with a relaxed mindset and high spirits. The training session on the afternoon of January 30 with coach Diego Giustozzi’s squad was conducted in a light atmosphere filled with laughter.
Due to the tight schedule of playing a match every two days, the coaching staff deliberately reduced training intensity. Players mainly performed warm-ups and light exercises to recover physically and regain balance after the previous intense match. Before the afternoon session, the entire team also engaged in recovery activities in the morning at the pool and gym.
On January 31, the Vietnam futsal team will face Thailand in the final group match, a game that will determine the leader of Group B. Preparing for this clash, coach Diego Giustozzi has implemented tactical plans to limit the very strong attacking power of the opponent, while also arranging personnel strategies to preserve the squad for the quarterfinals.
Regarding this match, captain Nguyen Manh Dung said: “After two early wins securing our quarterfinal spot, the whole team feels relaxed, confident, and ready to face Thailand. They are a very strong opponent, especially in attack. Although this match only decides the group leader, we still aim to win, but at the same time ensure the best possible squad and fitness for the quarterfinals.”
Regarding the squad situation, Duong Ngoc Linh will miss the upcoming match due to suspension. Meanwhile, pivot Nguyen Thinh Phat is facing health issues and continues to be closely monitored by the medical team.
With a relaxed spirit and proactive preparation, the Vietnam futsal team approaches the final group match determined to compete strongly for the top spot against host Thailand.
