Just after the first 2 rounds, the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship has determined 7 of the 8 teams qualifying for the quarterfinals with impressive performances and dominant victories.
In Group A, Indonesia and Iraq demonstrated their strength by defeating Kyrgyzstan and South Korea respectively, securing early spots in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, in Group B, Vietnam and Thailand also advanced to the last 8 after beating Kuwait and Lebanon in the first two matches. The final match between these two teams took place on the afternoon of January 31, Thailand secured a 1-0 victory, thereby officially claiming the top spot in the group.
In Group D, Afghanistan and Iran earned their places in the next round after winning against Saudi Arabia and Malaysia in the first two matches. Group C is the only group that has confirmed just one team progressing, which is Japan with 6 points from two games. The remaining spot will be contested between Uzbekistan (4 points, +2 goal difference) and Tajikistan (1 point, -3). In the final round, Uzbekistan faces Japan while Tajikistan plays Australia. Uzbekistan needs only a draw to advance. However, if Uzbekistan loses to Japan and Tajikistan wins by more than 5 goals, Tajikistan will claim the spot.
On the evening of March 31, the final Group A match between Indonesia and Iraq will take place, deciding the opponent for coach Diego Giustozzi’s team in the quarterfinals.
The quarterfinal matches of the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship will be held on February 3.
