Official: Vietnam futsal team’s opponent in the Asian Championship quarterfinals confirmed

Following the end of the group matches, Vietnam’s futsal team has officially identified their quarterfinal rival in the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship as host Indonesia, the leading team in Group A with steady form and strong home support.

Group A’s outcome decided after the final match between Indonesia and Iraq. Needing only a draw to maintain their top spot, Indonesia played cautiously but controlled the game. The hosts opened the scoring early in the 6th minute with a precise finish by Samuel Eko following a quick combination. This goal allowed Indonesia to dictate the pace and forced Iraq to push forward in search of an equalizer.

In the second half, Iraq increased pressure with a physically intense style and continuously tested various attacking strategies. Their efforts paid off in the 30th minute when Haedr Majed unleashed a decisive shot, leveling the score.

According to the schedule, the quarterfinal match between Vietnam and Indonesia will take place at 7 PM on February 3rd. Meanwhile, the other quarterfinal pairings will be decided after the final group matches of Groups C and D on February 1st, featuring strong teams such as Japan, Iran, and Saudi Arabia.
