After the group stage was decided, Indonesian supporters unanimously expressed their views as their team prepared to face Vietnam’s futsal squad in the Asian quarterfinals, promising an intense showdown.
Once Group A concluded, the Indonesian fan community quickly became “animated” as their team officially faced Vietnam’s futsal team in the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship quarterfinals. On forums and social media, numerous comments showed excitement and confidence, but there were also cautious opinions regarding this regional rival with a long history.
One Indonesian fan wrote: “Facing Vietnam is a big match, but with home advantage, we fully believe we can advance.”
Another user expressed more caution: “Vietnam holds a higher ranking and more experience; Indonesia must stay fully focused or risk paying the price.”
Meanwhile, another comment showed enthusiasm: “This is an opportunity for Indonesia to assert its new status in Southeast Asian futsal against a strong opponent.”
In the final Group A match, Indonesia faced Iraq needing only a draw to maintain top spot. The hosts started proactively and took the lead early in the 6th minute when Samuel Eko neatly finished after a quick combination. This goal allowed Indonesia to control the game’s pace, forcing Iraq to push forward seeking an equalizer. In the second half, the West Asian side increased pressure and equalized in the 30th minute with a decisive shot from Haedr Majed. The remaining minutes saw both teams play cautiously to finish the game 1-1.
This result was enough for Indonesia to finish the group stage with 7 points from 3 matches, topping Group A and qualifying for the quarterfinals. In the other match, Kyrgyzstan defeated South Korea 3-2, but the group standings remained unchanged with both teams eliminated. As group winners, Indonesia will face the runner-up of Group B, Vietnam’s futsal team.
Regarding Vietnam, the team finished second in Group B. Although unable to challenge Thailand for first place, the coach’s squad achieved their goal of reaching the quarterfinals. Facing Indonesia, the tournament hosts ranked 24th globally, is considered a major challenge. Vietnam currently holds the 20th FIFA ranking; while the gap is not large, Indonesia’s home advantage and rapid progress make this encounter highly tense and unpredictable.
