Indonesia’s Samuel Eko shows strong resolve to beat Vietnam in the 2026 Asian futsal quarterfinals.
In the final match of Group A at the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship, the Indonesian futsal team drew 1-1 with Iraq, securing first place in Group A. This means the host team will face Vietnam’s futsal team, who finished second in Group B, in the quarterfinals.
Commenting on their quarterfinal opponent Vietnam, Indonesia’s Samuel Eko expressed his determination to win: "Of course, we want to win to avenge our loss at the SEA Games. Especially on home ground, we must win," Samuel said after the match.
Not long ago at SEA Games 33, the Vietnamese futsal team defeated Indonesia with a score of 1-0.
Regarding his current form, Samuel Eko stated: "In this match, I felt I played even better than the previous game,"the player who scored the only goal against Iraq revealed.
Beyond his performance on the field, Samuel admitted he was deeply impressed by the passionate support from the Indonesian national futsal fans who filled the stadium. He said the presence of tens of thousands of supporters was a huge motivation for the Garuda team.
"It’s such a proud feeling to have tens of thousands watching. I hope even more fans will come for the match against Vietnam to boost the entire team’s morale," the player shared.
The quarterfinal match between Vietnam and Indonesia will take place on February 3rd. Additionally, another quarterfinal pairing has been confirmed between Thailand and Iraq.
