Lukman’s transfer saga last summer saw Inter Milan chase him without success, and now the 28-year-old Nigerian attacker is moving from Serie A to La Liga.
According to the latest report from Romano, Atletico Madrid will pay a total of 40 million euros to sign Atalanta forward Lukman. Both parties have agreed on the transfer details, with a fixed fee of 35 million euros matching his market value, plus an additional 5 million euros in performance-related bonuses. Lukman made his final decision on the evening of January 31st to leave Atalanta for Atletico Madrid. The Colchoneros are currently arranging his travel and medical examinations.
Lukman is 28 years old, stands 1.74 meters tall, and is right-footed. He mainly plays as a left winger but can also operate as a striker or right winger. This season, he has appeared 19 times for Atalanta across all competitions, starting 15 matches and totaling 1240 minutes, contributing 3 goals and 2 assists.
Lukman’s peak performance came in the 2023-24 Europa League final, where he single-handedly broke down Bayer Leverkusen’s defense to help Atalanta win the title. It is hoped that after joining Atletico Madrid, Lukman will solve Simeone’s attacking issues and become the new star striker for the Colchoneros.
