The trio of Vietnamese overseas stars Lee Williams, Khoa Ngô, and Trần Thành Trung all found the net in the 12th round of the V-League.
Round 12 of the 2025/26 V.League delivered very positive signals for Vietnamese football as three overseas Vietnamese players — Lee Williams, Khoa Ngô, and Trần Thành Trung — all scored goals. Their strikes not only helped their clubs gain an advantage on the pitch but also served as a “joyful message” to coach Kim Sang-sik, who is searching for quality talents for Vietnam’s U21/Olympic team ahead of the ASIAD.
In the match between Ho Chi Minh City Police and PVF-CAND, Khoa Ngô made his first V.League start and quickly proved his worth. Despite his smaller stature, this midfielder compensates with speed, technique, and intelligent movement. His run-in finish to make it 2-0 in the second half marked his first goal in the league, playing a crucial role in the 2-1 victory.
Additionally, Lee Williams delivered an outstanding performance. He opened the scoring with a cool finish in the first half and was actively involved in creating attacking opportunities. His teamwork, modern football intelligence, and quick adaptation made Williams a key offensive pillar, forming an effective connection with Khoa Ngô.
Meanwhile, in the highlight match of the round, young midfielder Trần Thành Trung from Ninh Bình FC left a strong impression despite his team’s narrow defeat. Coming off the bench, he immediately injected fresh energy into the midfield with skillful and confident plays.
In the 55th minute, the 2005-born player executed a solo run past several defenders before unleashing a thunderous shot into the net. The goal not only reduced the deficit but also showcased his individual class and the solid training background he received in Europe. After struggling with injury, Thành Trung is regaining form and becoming an important figure for his club.
Having three overseas Vietnamese players score in the same round is an encouraging sign for the future of Vietnam’s youth football. They bring diverse styles, international experience, and a strong competitive spirit. If they maintain their form, Lee Williams, Khoa Ngô, and Trần Thành Trung could become the core of Vietnam’s U21/Olympic team at the upcoming ASIAD, providing coach Kim Sang-sik with reliable options.
