Defender Doan Van Hau shared his first comments on social media after suffering an injury and being carried off by stretcher during Hanoi Police’s (CAHN) thrilling 3-2 victory over Ninh Binh FC in the 12th round of the 2025/26 V.League on the evening of February 1st.
The match at Hang Day Stadium unfolded with intense emotions. CAHN conceded early when Ninh Binh scored in the 2nd minute through Silveira. However, the home team quickly mounted a strong comeback. Alan Grafite scored twice at the 30th and 35th minutes (the latter a penalty), then added a third goal at 45+1 minutes to make it 3-1. A key moment in this goal was Van Hau’s precise cross from the left flank, which allowed Alan to finish closely past goalkeeper Dang Van Lam.
In the second half, Ninh Binh pressed hard and managed to reduce the deficit to 2-3 at the 55th minute thanks to Tran Thanh Trung. Yet just one minute later, what worried fans happened: Van Hau appeared in pain, lying on the ground and needing medical attention. Unable to continue, he was stretchered off and replaced by Minh Phuc, a member of Vietnam’s U23 team.
Right after the game, Van Hau posted on his personal page: “Victory achieved but there is still much to improve. I will keep trying harder.” This brief status clearly shows the professional spirit of the defender born in 1999, who just returned after more than 25 months of treatment and rehabilitation.
Currently, the extent of Van Hau’s injury has not been confirmed. At the post-match press conference, assistant coach Pham Thanh Luong spoke about Van Hau’s condition, the former Vietnamese star said: “As you all know, Van Hau has just recently returned to play, and this was his third match after a long recovery period. His performance today was outstanding; he is gradually regaining his form and the high level he used to have. Right now, we have to wait for the club’s medical team to examine him before we can provide a definitive update.”
Fans’ concerns are understandable since Van Hau only made his comeback in December 2025 during CAHN’s match against Buriram United in the Asian competition. In that return, he impressed with energetic, solid, and aggressive play against the strong Thai side’s attack. In coach Mano Polking’s tactical system, Van Hau plays a crucial role thanks to his stable defense, vast experience, and dynamic wing runs.
As the V.League enters a decisive phase and the Vietnam national team faces important goals ahead, Van Hau’s early return will be highly anticipated by both CAHN and Vietnamese football supporters.
