Coach Gerard Albadalejo is reportedly facing the possibility of disciplinary action for losing control after Ninh Binh FC's defeat to CAHN.
Ninh Binh FC was unable to extend their unbeaten streak to 37 games as they suffered a bitter loss against CAHN in the Round 12 match of the V-League. Not only did they lose points, but the team from the ancient capital also faces potential serious consequences following this defeat.
Specifically, according to sources Thanh Nien Newspaper, the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) has completed sending the case file to the Disciplinary Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for review and handling regarding Coach Gerard Albadalejo of Ninh Binh FC. This stems from the Spanish coach having made critical remarks about the refereeing after the aforementioned loss.
Immediately after the final whistle at Hang Day Stadium, Coach Gerard Albadalejo lost his composure and rushed onto the field with a very tense demeanor. The 1983-born strategist approached the main referee from Malaysia, Razlan Joffri, forcing the assistant referees to quickly intervene to prevent the situation from escalating.
The tense atmosphere continued into the post-match press conference. Albadalejo entered the room still visibly upset. When asked about his feelings after the defeat, instead of a brief response, he launched into a nearly two-minute-long intense reaction, repeatedly raising his voice and slamming his hand on the table, clearly showing his anger over the match outcome.
According to Albadalejo, a series of decisions by the refereeing team disrupted the flow of the match, causing all tactical plans and the team's efforts to almost collapse. Furthermore, the Spanish coach continued expressing his frustration with sharp, direct criticism of the referees' management.
It is expected that the VFF Disciplinary Committee will soon review the case and impose penalties for Coach Gerard Albadalejo’s controversial statements. The 42-year-old coach is likely to face fines, suspension from coaching duties for a certain period, or possibly both penalties due to his lack of restraint in his comments.
For Ninh Binh FC, this defeat caused the team from the ancient capital to lose the top spot to CAHN, trailing their rival by two points and having played one more match.
