Vietnam's futsal team conducted a training session at Arena Indonesia to get accustomed to the venue, perfect their strategy, and get ready for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship quarterfinals.
The Vietnam futsal team had an important training session on the very Arena Indonesia court, where the match will take place the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship quarterfinal against host Indonesia. This is considered a necessary preparation step to help coach Diego Giustozzi’s squad be ready both technically and mentally for the crucial knockout round match.
According to the organizers' plan, the Vietnam futsal team was allocated a 60-minute training session at Arena Indonesia. Practicing on the official match court allows players to better adapt to the surface, lighting, and arena environment, minimizing surprises that could affect their performance during the actual game.
In fact, Arena Indonesia is not unfamiliar territory for Vietnam's futsal team. Previously, they played here in the final group stage match against Thailand. However, Coach Diego Giustozzi still highly values this additional practice session, as each match has different characteristics and fully adapting to the playing conditions is always crucial in knockout rounds.
Before stepping onto the court, Coach Diego Giustozzi spent time discussing with players in the locker room, reviewing lessons from the loss to Thailand. With only one day left before the quarterfinal, the training was conducted at a moderate intensity, focusing on warm-up, maintaining ball touch, and ensuring the team’s best physical condition.
On the technical side, the coaching staff concentrated on perfecting tactical plays. The Vietnam futsal team was guided on attack deployment, defensive organization, and rehearsed set pieces, which often decide tightly contested matches. Additionally, penalty shootout plans were carefully prepared to be ready for any possible scenario.
Before this training session, the organizers held a technical meeting with the quarterfinal teams to agree on jersey colors, explain regulations, and competition rules. Accordingly, if the match ends in a draw after regular time, it will proceed to extra time and possibly be decided by a 6-meter penalty shootout. With thorough preparation and high focus, Vietnam’s futsal team aims to deliver a strong performance against Indonesia in the upcoming quarterfinal.
