Hot: Vietnam U23 team is set to face Thailand and China again in March

As part of preparations for major objectives in 2026, the Vietnam U23 team is likely to travel to China to participate in a four-team friendly tournament with several strong opponents.

According to Thai media, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) is planning to organize a U23 four-nation tournament during the upcoming FIFA international window in March. Due to the close cooperation between CFA and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Vietnam U23 is expected to be one of the two honored guests alongside Uzbekistan U23.

This presents an excellent opportunity for the young Vietnamese players to enhance their competitive spirit and refine their tactical and technical skills. Over recent years, regularly competing against top Asian football nations like South Korea and Uzbekistan in CFA-organized friendlies has been a crucial platform helping Vietnam’s young talents develop significantly before entering official competitions.

If this plan is officially announced, fans will witness intense rivalries. Coach Kim Sang-sik’s team will have the chance to seek revenge after their 0-3 defeat to China U23 in the semifinals of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.

Additionally, the clash with Thailand U23 promises to be fiery. Although Vietnam U23 previously defeated this rival 3-2 in the 2025 SEA Games final, the Thai side is now more eager than ever to take revenge.

Following their loss at the AFC U23 Championship in January, Thai football is focusing all efforts on the 2026 ASIAD in Japan. Thailand U23 coach Thawatchai has requested the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) to assemble the strongest squad for the China tour to restore pride and evaluate the team lineup.
