Vietnam Women's National Team Accelerates Ahead of the 2026 Asian Cup Finals

The Vietnam women's national team is stepping up their pace in preparation for the 2026 Asian Women's Championship Finals — the first significant competition for Coach Mai Đức Chung's team this year.

At this stage, the coaching staff is increasing training volume, focusing on enhancing physical fitness, strength, and speed, while also combining tactical and technical drills to ensure players reach their best condition before departure for the tournament.

Discussing the current training intensity, young forward Vũ Thị Hoa (Hanoi Club) mentioned that recent sessions have been ramped up, with a clear emphasis on fitness and strength support.

“For me personally and for the whole team, when Coach Mai Đức Chung raises the intensity, players gradually improve their stamina and strength,”she said.

Regarding her personal goals, Vũ Thị Hoa candidly acknowledged areas she needs to improve. “On a personal level, I need to work on my agility and increase my physical strength in challenges,”the forward born in 2003 shared.

Reflecting on lessons learned from recent matches, Vũ Thị Hoa stated that the team has gained clear insights to continue improving in the future. “After the last two games, the whole team has drawn many lessons and recognizes the need for improvements to become better. I will focus more to help the team progress,”Vũ Thị Hoa said.

Touching on technical aspects, Vũ Thị Hoa believes she needs to adjust her ball handling to better suit the competitive nature at the continental level. “I think when facing opponents with advantages in height or strength, it’s better to pass the ball early because the physical contests between us and them are not equal,”she explained.

At the 2026 Asian Women's Championship Finals, the Vietnam women's national team is placed in Group C, where they will face India (March 4), Chinese Taipei (March 7), and Japan (March 10). The tournament runs from March 1 to March 21, 2026, with the top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
