Before the summer transfer window, the royal club is planning a revamp, focusing on a promising young player whose chances to play at Emirates have diminished.
Real Madrid is preparing to enter the summer transfer window with a strong intention to rebuild after another disappointing season. Although currently second in La Liga and still in contention in the Champions League, defeats in the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup show the squad needs fresh energy and personnel boosts.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly has been listed as a top target. The young English talent shone last season but has had limited and inconsistent appearances this year. Nevertheless, experts still regard Lewis-Skelly’s potential for growth as very high, enough for Real to pursue him relentlessly.
Sources indicate Lewis-Skelly is valued at around 60 million Euros (52 million pounds). Real’s management views him as a “new gem” in Florentino Perez’s sights. The plan to approach is based on giving the player a key role in the rebuilding project, offering more regular playing time than he currently receives.
Specifically, Real believes the feeling of a “stall” in development might prompt Lewis-Skelly to reconsider his future. The royal club will make an official offer once the market opens, hoping the player’s desire will facilitate smooth negotiations. If successful, this will be a bold statement of ambition in the transfer market.
At the same time, Real is said to have reached an agreement for their first new signing: Kees Smit. The young midfielder from AZ Alkmaar is highly rated for his versatility, able to play both defensive and attacking roles, fitting multiple tactical systems. The expected fee is about 30 million Euros.
The Kees Smit transfer reflects a long-term investment strategy: youth, high potential for growth, and reasonable cost. If plans proceed as scheduled, Real Madrid could soon start a major squad overhaul, adding youthful energy to midfield and increasing options for wing attacks.
