Champions League winner and former Chelsea player joins Shandong, set to sign a 1+1 contract, currently valued at 4 million euros.

As reported by French media Footmercato’s journalist Santi Aouna, ex-Chelsea and French center-back Kurt Zouma has come to a verbal deal with Chinese Super League side Shandong Taishan. They plan to finalize a 1+1 contract, with Zouma anticipated to sign formally with Shandong Taishan shortly.

It is understood that Shandong Taishan will sign Zouma on a free transfer because Cluj failed to pay his wages. Zouma has terminated his contract with the Romanian club and is currently a free agent.

Zouma began his career at Saint-Étienne in Ligue 1 before moving to Chelsea in the Premier League. During his time at Chelsea, he played 151 matches across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 4 assists. He also had spells at West Ham United and other clubs. While at Chelsea, Zouma won one Champions League title, two Premier League titles, and one League Cup. Unfortunately, injuries hampered his career, but now he looks set to continue his professional journey in the Chinese Super League.

Now 31 years old, Zouma still has several years left to play as a center-back. Standing 1.90 meters tall and right-footed, he is valued at 4 million euros according to Transfermarkt. Though considered injury-prone in the Premier League, Zouma might prove to be a tough and reliable player in the CSL. Chinese Super League fans are eagerly looking forward to his performances.
