This week, Manchester United officially confirmed the signing of 19-year-old English goalkeeper Solomon Honor from Championship side Blackburn Rovers. The player came through Manchester City's youth academy, trained there for eight years, then joined Blackburn's youth setup in 2021, and now, four years later, he has moved to the Red Devils.

Honor's transfer was formally announced by his agent via social media, expressing great pride in achieving this move and describing joining Manchester United as a significant opportunity that holds immense importance for his future development.
Interestingly, Solomon's younger brother, Zico Honor, joined Manchester United earlier and currently plays for the club’s under-14 team. The two siblings will now be teammates at Carrington. Moreover, both are goalkeepers, potentially setting up future competition between them.
Honor will join Manchester United’s U21 squad and continue competing in the English second-tier league. Standing 187 cm tall, Honor is described as a modern-style goalkeeper who remains calm and composed when handling the ball. This technical ability appeals to Manchester United, as the club aims to implement the same tactical philosophy across all age groups.
Last October, Blackburn’s U21 team surprisingly defeated Manchester United 4-0, with Honor included in the squad but only as a substitute. After joining Manchester United, he will have to compete for the starting goalkeeper spot against Eli Harrison, Dermot Mee, and William Murdoch.

Manchester United’s current first-team goalkeeper, Senna Lamens, holds a secure position with few mistakes. While he may not yet be at a level to win matches single-handedly, at least he doesn’t lose games like Onana did! It is reported that there may be changes among the backup goalkeepers next season. The future of Turkish international Altay Bayindir is uncertain, but André Onana, currently on loan at Trabzonspor in the Turkish league, will definitely leave.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Manchester United has plans to sell 29-year-old Onana after this season ends. Trabzonspor’s loan deal does not include a purchase option, so the Red Devils must find a new club for him. Rumors suggest Onana’s former club Inter Milan is interested in re-signing him to replace veteran Jan Sommer, who once replaced him.
“Who will leave Manchester United? Onana is definitely among them this summer,” Romano said. “Onana is currently on loan at Trabzonspor, and Manchester United’s decision is clear: they will not continue with him after the summer. The club’s plan is to part ways and seek solutions separately. British media have reported he might return to Inter Milan, but I haven’t heard anything concrete.”
Romano dismissed the possibility of Onana returning to Inter Milan: “His agent is indeed in Milan, but their agency handles many deals. The agent’s presence in Milan is related to other players’ matters, not to facilitate Onana’s transfer back to Inter. However, several clubs are interested in Onana, and he will carefully consider his options. As far as I know, Onana is expected to leave Manchester United in the 2026/27 season to pursue a new experience.”

Romano also pointed out that even if Trabzonspor wanted to buy Onana, they likely cannot meet Manchester United’s asking price. Therefore, Onana is expected to join a completely new club next season, rather than any of his former teams.
