Vietnam U17 is about to know their opponents at the AFC U17 Championship, determined to secure a spot in the World Cup.

The AFC has confirmed the date for the group stage draw of the 2026 AFC U17 Championships for both genders.

On February 12th, the group draw ceremony will take place at the AFC U17 Men's and Women's Championships 2026, officially held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship will be hosted in China from May 1 to 17, featuring 12 teams, which is four more than the previous edition. Four AFC representatives from the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup Morocco 2025 – North Korea, Japan, South Korea, and China – have been granted automatic qualification.

The 12 teams will be divided into three pots based on a points system derived from their final rankings in the last three final tournaments. According to the seeding, the Vietnam U17 women's team is placed in pot 3 alongside the Philippines and India. Pot 1 includes China, North Korea, and Japan. Pot 2 consists of South Korea, Thailand, and Australia. Pot 4 contains Taiwan, Myanmar, and Lebanon.

At the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship,the four semifinalist teams will represent the continent at the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup Morocco 2026.

Meanwhile, the 2026 AFC U17 Men's Championship will be held in Saudi Arabia from May 5 to 22 with 16 participating teams. The host nation will compete along with eight AFC representatives from the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2025: North Korea, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and seven group winners from the qualifiers, including Vietnam.

The 16 teams will be split into four pots based on a points system calculated from their final positions in the last three final tournaments. According to the grouping, the Vietnam U17 men's team is in pot 3 together with Thailand, China, and India. Pot 1 consists of Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Japan, and Uzbekistan. Pot 2 includes Tajikistan, Australia, Yemen, and Indonesia, while pot 4 contains North Korea, UAE, Qatar, and Myanmar.

In the 2026 AFC U17 Men's Championship, the top eight teams will qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2026.
