V-League 2025/2026 officially confirms its end date

The V-League 2025/2026 will be played continuously after Tet and finish early on June 7, 2026, to facilitate the Vietnam national team’s preparation for international tournaments.

Important adjustments in the schedule reflect the organizers’ efforts to balance domestic leagues with the national team’s international commitments in 2026.

According to the new plan, the V-League 2025/2026 will resume its usual pace immediately after the Lunar New Year break. Matches will be held weekly without long interruptions to maintain competitive momentum and excitement for fans. The only exception is a short break at the end of March to accommodate the Vietnam national team’s training during FIFA international dates set by the global football federation.

The most notable point in this announcement is the season’s end date. Instead of extending to the end of June as usual, the final round of the V-League 2025/2026 will take place on June 7, 2026. Shortening the schedule by about three weeks is a strategic move to prevent overlap with the 2026 FIFA World Cup — the world’s biggest football event that will draw massive global attention.

Besides the World Cup, the national team factor also plays a crucial role in adjusting the schedule. Ending the V-League earlier will provide the Vietnam national team with more preparation time for the 2026 ASEAN Cup. This regional tournament is expected to start in July, and the extended preparation period is hoped to help the coaching staff build the squad and refine tactics thoroughly, aiming to defend their championship title.

Alongside the V-League, other domestic competitions are also scheduled in coordination to support the overall plan. The 2025/2026 National First Division is expected to finish its last round on June 6, just one day before the V-League ends. Meanwhile, the National Cup will be completed before June 15. This arrangement keeps the domestic calendar compact in the first half of June, avoiding overlaps and reducing pressure on clubs and players.

With all domestic tournaments ending early, the Vietnam national team will have nearly a month to gather and prepare for the 2026 ASEAN Cup. This period is considered ideal for reviewing the squad, organizing quality friendlies, and improving fitness and tactics. Therefore, the new V-League 2025/2026 schedule not only manages the competition but also clearly prioritizes the long-term goals of Vietnamese football on the regional stage.
