Coach Mauro Jeronimo felt proud to guide Nam Dinh Club to top their group in the Shopee Cup.
After the 1-1 draw between Nam Dinh Club and Johor Darul Ta’zim in the final group match of the Shopee Cup 2025/26, Head coach Mauro Jeronimo showed satisfaction with the team's overall performance, despite the result not being as perfect as hoped.
In his overall assessment of the match, Coach Mauro Jeronimo stated that Nam Dinh delivered a strong performance, especially in terms of fighting spirit and tactical discipline. “Today the team played very well. I’m not fully happy yet, because full happiness comes with a win, even though we created enough chances and even had penalty opportunities,” the Nam Dinh head coach shared.
However, he emphasized that what pleased him most was the players’ attitude and focus despite limited preparation time due to the tight schedule and constant travel.
According to Coach Mauro, the performance against Johor Darul Ta’zim FC demonstrated the resilience and status of the Nam Dinh team in the regional arena. “The players’ spirit, attitude, and adherence to tactics were excellent. They showed that Nam Dinh Club is ready to compete fairly against any top team in the region,” he affirmed.
The Portuguese coach also believed that given their on-field display, Nam Dinh deserved the win, even though the final result was a draw.
Looking at the group stage journey overall, Coach Mauro Jeronimo said this remains a very positive outcome for Nam Dinh. “We finished the Shopee Cup group stage unbeaten and topped group B. These are positive achievements I want the players to recognize and be proud of,”he emphasized.
