Manchester United officially announced that Dolgu is injured and may be sidelined for up to 10 weeks! One player is affected and unable to transfer, feeling angry and disappointed.

Patrick Dolgu, who scored goals against Manchester City and Arsenal after Carrick became manager, must now miss a long spell due to a hamstring strain. Carrick confirmed on the club’s official site this week that the 21-year-old Danish international will not be back shortly but believes Dolgu will return before the season concludes.

Due to his outstanding form, Dolgu was awarded Manchester United’s best player of January, but the injury has forced him to halt his progress for now. After the Arsenal match, English media captured photos of Dolgu using crutches at Carrington.

There is currently no definite timetable for Dolgu’s recovery, with rumors suggesting he might be out for 8 weeks, while Carrick admitted the absence could extend to 10 weeks. However, Carrick firmly believes Dolgu will come back stronger than before and maintain his peak condition.

When asked about Dolgu’s specific injury status, Carrick said: “It’s still unclear; we are working on it. He will definitely miss several weeks, quite a long period. I mean, he definitely won’t be back within two or three weeks, and the exact timing is still hard to say.”

In fact, even if the previously reported 8-week absence by English media is accurate, Dolgu would still have to wait 10 weeks before playing again for Manchester United because of international breaks at the end of March and early April. After United’s away game at Bournemouth on March 20, their next match is the “Rose Derby” home game against Leeds United on April 11. The biggest impact is on the Danish national team, which will face crucial 2026 World Cup European qualifying playoffs then.

Carrick stated: “It might take 10 weeks; we are actively treating him. Of course, we hope he can return to the pitch as soon as possible and participate again before the season ends. It’s definitely a blow; losing a player who cannot compete is always disappointing because it reduces our options. Especially someone like Patrick, who has played such a vital role in recent weeks and truly elevated the team’s level.”

Fortunately, Manchester United is not short of alternatives for the winger position that Dolgu recently occupied. Carrick said: “Unfortunately, professional football is always full of ups and downs, constantly changing. In the short term, Patrick is disappointed because he wanted to continue his good form. However, he still has a long career ahead of 10 to 15 years; this is just a small setback in his life. He has already achieved some success, and I believe he will return even stronger.”

Another Manchester United player affected by Dolgu’s unexpected injury is Tyrell Malacia. The 26-year-old Dutch left-back was preparing to transfer to Turkey on the winter transfer deadline day but received a call from the club’s sporting director Jason Wilcox before boarding, asking him to cancel the trip because the club decided to keep him.

According to the Dutch “International Football” report, Malacia found this unbelievable and was very disappointed. Even with Dolgu injured, he still wouldn’t get much playing time, as Manchester United’s starting left-back Luke Shaw has played every Premier League game this season, and Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot can also cover left-back. Therefore, Malacia had hoped to move to Besiktas for more opportunities but now must remain on Manchester United’s bench until the season ends.

Manchester United’s rationale is the concern over further injuries, so keeping an extra player is a precaution. The club’s under-21 squad includes Diego Leon, who joined this season for £7 million, but the Paraguayan youngster is only 18 and has yet to play in the Premier League, so Carrick prefers to retain the more experienced option.
