Captain Bruno Fernandes gave special praise to coach Michael Carrick following Manchester United's continued winning run under the ex-midfielder's guidance.
On the evening of February 8, Man United secured a 2-0 victory against Tottenham at Old Trafford, extending their streak to four consecutive Premier League wins since Carrick took charge. Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes scored in each half, while Spurs played with 10 men from the 29th minute after Cristian Romero received a red card.
This win not only helped Man United strengthen their 4th place position in the league standings but also added weight to Carrick’s consideration for a permanent head coach role. For the first time in two years, the “Red Devils” have won four straight Premier League matches.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Bruno Fernandes emphasized Carrick’s special influence: “Michael has won every trophy here. He understands what victory means to the fans and this club. That brings a very special value to the whole team.”
Carrick was appointed as a temporary replacement for Ruben Amorim last month until the end of the season. However, Man United’s performance has exceeded expectations. Fernandes further revealed: “Michael came with the right ideas, gives responsibility to the players, and communicates very well. I told him I believed Michael would become a good coach, and now he is proving it.”
The goal in the 81st minute against Tottenham also marked a milestone for Bruno Fernandes, as it was his 200th direct involvement in goals since joining Man United in 2020.
After this victory, Man United have 44 points, surpassing last season’s total of 42. Although eliminated from domestic cups, securing a Champions League spot is still viewed as a target that would make this season a success for Michael Carrick’s squad.
