Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm gives unexpected remarks about the new overseas Vietnamese player in the V-League

Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm provided important insights about the overseas Vietnamese newcomer Camilo Minh, as well as technical evaluations from the Hanoi versus Hai Phong game on February 7th night.

In the 0-2 defeat against Hanoi FC on the evening of February 7th, Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm included overseas Vietnamese player Camilo Minh Vasconcelos in the starting lineup. Regarding the debut performance after the first 77 minutes, he commented: "I believe he performed adequately. This was his first match since arriving in Vietnam. He is a young player, so in my opinion, he met the expectations today."

"The most crucial thing is for him to adapt to Hai Phong's playing style and the V-League environment. This will require a long adjustment period because the environment in Canada is different from Vietnam. If he adapts well, I think he will become a very good player."

Regarding the 0-2 result, the coach admitted that the home team played better and deserved the win: "In this match, Hanoi FC played better. Hai Phong lost the first 10 minutes; we started poorly and paid the price with a goal conceded. After that, we had some chances but failed to capitalize. In the second half, due to a moment of distraction, Hanoi scored again. So I think Hanoi deserved the win today, while our team still struggled to find the rhythm."

"I regret that we had opportunities to score. If we had equalized, the game might have been different. Additionally, losing Friday weakened our ability to pressure the opponent as only Tagueu was left. Hai Phong’s squad is not deep, so we don’t have many players who can change the game," Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm added.

Talking about the race for the top 3 and top 5, Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm commented: "Honestly, it’s very difficult for Hai Phong to reach the top 3 or top 5. As you know, Hai Phong’s squad isn’t strong enough to stretch that far. Of course, the last two losses were against strong opponents. Losing to Viettel or Hanoi is normal."

"I think Hai Phong must carefully collect every point. If not, after a few rounds, we might have to fight to avoid relegation. In football, nothing is certain. You also know that losing Friday or some key players means it’s a big challenge to rebuild and hope to find replacements," Coach Nghiêm concluded.
