Ninh Bình adds former Vietnam national team player after two consecutive losses

Ninh Bình Club has recently named Coach Trần Duy Quang as the assistant coach to Gerard Albadajejo.

Ninh Bình Club continues to strengthen its coaching staff ahead of the 2025/26 season by officially including Coach Trần Duy Quang in the technical team. The addition of the coach born in 1978 is expected to bring greater depth in expertise and practical experience to the historic club.

Coach Trần Duy Quang is a former Vietnam national team player, known for his impressive playing period with Đồng Tháp and Hoàng Anh Gia Lai from the 2000s to 2010. With a technical style and strong tactical thinking, he was once regarded as one of the most experienced midfielders in Vietnamese football during his peak career years.

After retiring, in 2021, Coach Trần Duy Quang joined Phù Đổng Ninh Bình Club as an assistant coach before being entrusted with leading the club’s youth academy. This role helped him gain valuable coaching experience, especially in training and developing young players.

In the 2024/25 season, Coach Trần Duy Quang was appointed head coach of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club. Under the guidance of the 48-year-old coach, the team at Thống Nhất Stadium impressed with a fiery playing style, emphasizing discipline and energetic spirit.

With a background as a former top-level player combined with coaching experience, Coach Trần Duy Quang is expected to contribute positively to Ninh Bình Club’s technical work, supporting the coaching staff in pursuing their goals for the 2025/26 season.

For Ninh Bình Club, after a 36-match unbeaten streak extending from the 2024/25 First Division season, they suffered consecutive defeats in the last two V-League roundsagainst CAHN and HAGL.
