PSG displayed superior strength by crushing Marseille 5-0 in Le Classique, highlighted by Ousmane Dembélé’s brilliant double, securing the team’s return to the top of Ligue 1.
Paris Saint-Germain demonstrated their power emphatically with an impressive 5-0 victory over their fierce rivals Marseille in Le Classique, thereby reclaiming the Ligue 1 lead. The standout player was Ousmane Dembélé, who scored twice and helped PSG maintain their unbeaten home record this season (9 wins, 1 draw).
Entering the match determined to secure all three points after Lens defeated Rennes 3-1, PSG quickly took control and opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Désiré Doué delivered a clever outside-foot pass to Nuno Mendes, who broke the offside trap and crossed perfectly for Dembélé to finish neatly. Marseille then pushed forward seeking an equalizer and had a clear chance when Amine Gouiri faced the goal, but goalkeeper Matvey Safonov made an outstanding save to keep the hosts in front.
That was also Marseille’s rare bright spot in the first half, as the rest belonged to Dembélé. Near the end of the half, the French forward produced a classy solo run down the right wing, beating two defenders in succession before unleashing a thunderous shot into the top corner, doubling the lead to 2-0. This marked Dembélé’s fifth consecutive Ligue 1 goal, highlighting his excellent form.
In the second half, PSG continued to dominate. Doué and Barcola each hit the post before the home side extended their lead to three thanks to an unfortunate own goal by Facundo Medina while trying to block a cross from Vitinha. With the game settled, substitutes Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Lee Kang-in each scored to seal a convincing 5-0 victory.
This emphatic win propelled PSG to the top of Ligue 1, two points ahead of their closest rivals, while Marseille remained fourth, three points behind Lyon in the battle for the top three.
