The AFC/VFF Level A Football Coach Course Phase 2 has formally ended, signifying the fulfillment of a vital training program for the coaching staff in Vietnam.
On the afternoon of February 8, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) held the closing ceremony for Phase 2 of the AFC/VFF Level A Football Coach Course, officially concluding a long and challenging training journey at the VFF headquarters. The event took place in a solemn atmosphere, marking the successful completion of a course notable both for its professional content and the circumstances of its organization.
Attending the closing ceremony were VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu, VFF Technical Director Koshida Takeshi, PRO-level instructor from the Japan Football Association Ikeuchi Yutaka—who also serves as VFF’s technical advisor—along with representatives from various departments and 23 trainees from multiple regions, clubs, and football training centers across the country.
The AFC/VFF Level A Coach Course was conducted in two phases with a structured training schedule. Phase 1 took place at the PVF Center in June 2025, while Phase 2 was initially held in Hue City at the end of 2025 but had to be paused due to severe storm and flood damage. After a break, the program resumed and was completed from February 1 to 8, 2026, in Hanoi.
In addition to core professional coaching content, the course also provided trainees with essential supplementary knowledge such as sports psychology, physical conditioning, goalkeeper coaching, sports science, competition rules, and sports medicine. This foundation equips coaches to adopt modern training methods that meet the demands of professional football and sustainable development.
In his concluding remarks, VFF Technical Director Koshida Takeshi praised the trainees’ serious learning attitude despite many objective difficulties. He emphasized that the Level A certificate is a significant milestone, opening opportunities for coaches to lead youth teams or serve as assistants at professional clubs, and expressed his hope that they would become the backbone of local and national football.
From a strategic perspective, VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu affirmed that the course holds special significance in the long-term development plan for Vietnamese football. He stated that VFF is focusing on building a comprehensive youth training system nationwide, in which coaches holding the AFC/VFF Level A certificate will play a central role, accompanying the Federation in advancing Vietnamese football in the future.
