The China U23 squad achieved a historic milestone by clinching the AFC U23 Championship, turning its players into hot commodities. This winter, the two biggest domestic transfers in the Chinese Super League are both U23 players, with Yang Xi expected to be the highest-valued domestic signing this transfer window.
According to journalist Xu Jiang, Shanghai Port acquired 20-year-old defender Yang Xi from Qingdao West Coast for a transfer fee of 13 million yuan, payable over three years. Meanwhile, Chengdu Rongcheng signed 22-year-old forward Bai Helamu from Shenzhen New Pengcheng for a fixed fee of 6 million yuan plus a 1 million yuan performance-related bonus tied to appearances.

Yang Xi, aged 20, stands 1.75 meters tall and is right-footed. Primarily playing as a right-back, he was a key player for Qingdao West Coast last season, appearing 21 times in the Chinese Super League with 20 starts. Transfermarkt values him at 400,000 euros.

Bai Helamu, 22 years old and 1.83 meters tall, is a right-footed player mainly positioned as a striker but can also play as a winger. He served as a rotational forward for Shenzhen New Pengcheng last season, making 18 appearances with 9 starts in the Chinese Super League. Although he scored no goals or assists in the league, he is a dual international for both the senior and U23 national teams. Transfermarkt values him at 400,000 euros.
