According to the latest report from ESPN Argentina journalist Jorge Baravalle, Chelsea is currently the club closest to signing Alvarez.

The journalist stated that Chelsea has quietly advanced the transfer of Argentina’s 2022 World Cup-winning key striker Alvarez this summer. Both sides are actively negotiating, and Alvarez’s agency has sent representatives to London to watch Chelsea play Arsenal. Both London Big Six clubs are eager to sign Alvarez after this season, but so far Chelsea’s talks are the most advanced.

Alvarez is 26 years old, valued at 100 million euros, and joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in the summer 2024 window for a transfer fee of 75 million euros.Last season he scored 29 goals and provided 7 assists in 54 matches across all competitions; this season he has 11 goals and 6 assists in 35 matches.A striker who can maintain consistent output under Simeone’s system, Alvarez’s ability is definitely commendable.
