Round 13 of the V-League: Only one home team managed to win

The 13th round of the V-League saw very unexpected events, with almost all away teams performing better than the hosts.

The most anticipated match of round 13 in V.League 1-2025/26 between Hanoi FC and Hai Phong turned out to be a rare exception, as coach Harry Kewell’s team was the only home side to secure a full victory this round. Hosting Hai Phong at Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi FC comfortably won 2-0.

Hanoi FC was also the only home team to achieve a favorable result in round 13 of V.League 1-2025/26, while all the other five matches brought surprises, notably shocks caused by Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Song Lam Nghe An, and Dong A Thanh Hoa against Ninh Binh, The Cong Viettel, and Ho Chi Minh City Police respectively.

These matches were expected to have a significant gap in strength between the two sides, with one team in the top half of the standings and the other in the lower half. However, an unexpected scenario unfolded with impressive wins by Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Song Lam Nghe An, Dong A Thanh Hoa, and even PVF CAND.

The surprising results by these four clubs in round 13 of V.League 1-2025/26 have greatly altered the relegation battle, as Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Song Lam Nghe An, and Dong A Thanh Hoa temporarily moved into safe positions, while PVF CAND reduced the point gap to Becamex Ho Chi Minh City, who are just above them, to only one point.

Similarly, the championship race in V.League 1-2025/26 also saw a turning point, when Ninh Binh suffered a second consecutive loss in this round, giving chasing opportunities to The Cong Viettel and Hanoi FC behind them. With extensive experience in long-term competitions, The Cong Viettel and Hanoi FC will surely make Ninh Binh cautious in the upcoming rounds of V.League 1-2025/26.

Meanwhile, although Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City Police could not win in round 13, their chances remain intact because the points gap between them and the four teams above is only within the range of a single win, and any win or loss among those teams could shake up the standings.

The outstanding performance of the visiting teams in round 13 of V.League 1-2025/26 also reflects the reality that the skill gap between clubs is not very large, and on a good day, any team can claim victory, whether playing at home or away, or facing teams from either the upper or lower groups.
