Man Utd’s key striker is very likely to recover in time to participate in the upcoming away match against West Ham in the 26th round of the Premier League.
Bryan Mbeumo, who opened the scoring in Man Utd’s 2-0 win over Tottenham last weekend, caused concern among many fans after the match at Old Trafford ended.
Videos showing the Cameroon international limping off the “Theatre of Dreams” after being substituted by Joshua Zirkzee in the 87th minute quickly spread on social media, raising doubts about his availability for the away game at West Ham in the 26th Premier League round.
However, according to journalist Rich Fay, Mbeumo is still included in Man Utd’s squad traveling to London and could start the match. This was further confirmed by interim coach Michael Carrick, who did not mention any issues regarding Mbeumo during the pre-match press conference, indicating the striker is not seriously injured and remains ready to play.
Additionally, Carrick confirmed that Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt will be unavailable for the London trip.
He stated: “Mason probably won’t be able to play yet, but he should return for the Everton match. As for Matthijs, we will monitor his recovery progress. The Everton fixture is still some time away, so we will keep an eye on it. He is working hard and improving well, but Mason is closer to a comeback.”
Since joining Man Utd last summer, Mbeumo has quickly established himself as a vital player. The Cameroon forward has scored 10 goals and provided 1 assist in 21 appearances for the Old Trafford side, becoming a key figure in the team’s four recent wins under interim manager Michael Carrick.
If he maintains good fitness and consistent form against West Ham, Mbeumo is expected to pose significant challenges to the London club and help Man Utd pursue a fifth straight domestic victory.
Meanwhile, the "Red Devils" will also be without Patrick Dorgu for the West Ham clash, after the player suffered a hamstring injury in the 3-2 win over Arsenal last month.
If Man Utd secures all three points in East London, they will move up to third place in the standings due to a better goal difference than Aston Villa, although Unai Emery’s side still has a chance to respond when they face Brighton a day later.
The match between West Ham and Man Utd will kick off at 3:15 AM tomorrow (February 11).
