Coach Mai Đức Chung commends the technical level and determination shown by the Vietnam women's national team in their game versus China.
After the friendly match with the China women's team on the evening of February 10th in Shenzhen, Head coach Mai Đức Chung emphasized the sporting significance of these practice matches, affirming that they are an important preparation step for the Vietnam women's team ahead of the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup finals.
Evaluating the match, the head coach of the Vietnam women's team frankly pointed out areas needing improvement: “We lost 0-2 but the team's spirit was very good. From this game, the coaching staff will learn lessons to strengthen and refine the squad.
In the first half, our play was not quite up to standard, possibly because before this we only had two practice matches against Uzbekistan, so the level of readiness was not high. Facing a strong opponent like China, we identified many issues to adjust.”
Coach Mai Đức Chung particularly highlighted the players' fighting spirit: “I am pleased with the team's fighting spirit. Despite limitations in stamina, height, and strength compared to the opponent, the players showed resilience and effort. Although we lost, I am still satisfied with my players' determination.”
The experienced coach also expressed respect for the opponent: “The China women's national team is one of Asia's top teams, on par with Japan, South Korea, and Australia. Therefore, losing only 0-2 to such an opponent allows me to highly appreciate the spirit and efforts of our entire team.”
According to the plan, the two teams will have another friendly match on February 13th. This is an opportunity for the Vietnam women's coaching staff to continue reviewing the squad and perfect the lineup before returning home, aiming for the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup finals to be held in Australia in March.
