Vietnam's stadium is incredibly impressive, designed by a world-leading company

The 70,000-seat Rach Chiec Stadium was created by Populous, a premier sports architecture company worldwide.

Rach Chiec Stadium is the centerpiece of the Rach Chiec National Sports Complex, attracting attention as it is planned and designed by Populous, a world leader in sports architecture. With a capacity of 70,000 seats and an estimated investment of around 35 trillion VND, it is considered one of the largest stadium projects ever undertaken in Vietnam.

The Rach Chiec National Sports Complex project officially began construction on January 15, with a total investment exceeding 145 trillion VND. The project is jointly implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and Sun Group, marking a significant step forward in the strategy to develop national and regional sports infrastructure.

The entire complex covers more than 186 hectares, with Rach Chiec Stadium occupying approximately 24 hectares. With a 70,000-seat capacity, this venue is nearly twice the size of the current My Dinh Stadium, promising to become a site for large-scale sports and entertainment events. Selecting Populous as the designer reflects the ambition to meet international standards right from the planning stage.

According to Populous, the stadium’s architectural concept is inspired by the image of the water palm tree along the river, a distinctive symbol of the Southern region. The design emphasizes softness, movement, and strong symbolism, blending modern architectural language with local elements to create a structure that is both impressive and culturally rich.

Beyond its striking exterior, Rach Chiec Stadium is planned as a multifunctional complex meeting international standards. The facility is expected to feature a retractable roof, advanced soundproofing systems, and modern air conditioning adjustable by seating zones, catering to major sports tournaments as well as regional and global music and entertainment events.

Although still in the conceptual phase, initial renderings already showcase the scale and iconic nature of the project. With Populous’s extensive experience designing top stadiums worldwide, Rach Chiec is anticipated not only to be a large-scale sports venue but also a new infrastructure landmark for Ho Chi Minh City in the future.
