Coach Lê Huỳnh Đức considers Patrik Lê Giang worthy of selection should he keep up his performance, adding that the ultimate choice lies with Coach Kim Sang-sik’s strategy.
Coach Lê Huỳnh Đức has openly shared his thoughts regarding the case of Vietnamese-born goalkeeper Lê Giang Patrik, who recently completed his Vietnamese citizenship process as announced by VFF. According to this experienced coach, if Lê Giang continues to perform steadily, he fully deserves a chance to represent the national team.
In recent seasons, Lê Giang Patrik has consistently been regarded as one of the standout goalkeepers in the V-League. With a European training background, quick reflexes, and good footwork, the 1992-born keeper is a reliable last line of defense for the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club.
Regarding Lê Giang’s chances of national team selection, Coach Lê Huỳnh Đức stated: “If Lê Giang maintains his current form, he deserves a spot on the Vietnam national team. Unless Coach Kim Sang-sik has other plans and does not want to change the lineup, personally, I believe Patrik Lê Giang is fully capable of being given an opportunity.”
Mr. Đức’s opinion reflects a professional perspective based on the Vietnamese-born goalkeeper’s recent performances. Since joining Vietnamese football in 2023, Lê Giang has not only proven his skills but also demonstrated good integration both on and off the pitch.
As the Vietnam national team undergoes a transition phase and aims for important goals like the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, adding experienced and quality players such as Lê Giang Patrik is considered a viable option.
However, the final decision rests with head coach Kim Sang-sik, who will base his choice on long-term strategy, current form, and alignment with the team’s philosophy. Nevertheless, with support from experts and consistent performances, the door to the national team is more open than ever for Lê Giang Patrik.
