According to the draw results for the 2026 AFC U17 Championship Finals in Saudi Arabia, Vietnam U17 is placed in Group C alongside South Korea, UAE, and Yemen. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia from May 7 to May 24, 2026, featuring 16 teams.

Hosting the tournament for the third time, Saudi Arabia is one of nine teams granted direct entry to the 21st finals. The host nation, along with eight other AFC representatives who participated in the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025, include North Korea, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, Tajikistan, UAE, and Uzbekistan; in addition to seven group winners from the qualifiers.

Out of the 16 participating teams, 13 competed in the last finals in 2025 – where Uzbekistan claimed the championship. The remaining three teams are India and Qatar (who last appeared in the 2023 finals), and Myanmar, returning after their previous participation in 2006.

In the finals, teams will play in a single round-robin format within their groups to determine the top 8 teams advancing to the quarterfinals, who will also earn spots at the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2026. This presents a crucial opportunity for Vietnam U17 to reinforce their standing and gain valuable experience on the continental stage.
