Đông Á Thanh Hóa was given almost 400 million VND by fans from Thanh Hóa, boosting their spirit to face difficulties before the 2026 Bính Ngọ Tet holiday.
In the days leading up to the 2026 Bính Ngọ Tet, Đông Á Thanh Hóa received a special present from the supporters of Thanh Hóa. Over 370 million VND was raised by the Thanh Hóa Football Fans Association between February 8 and 13 and handed directly to the players, serving as a significant source of encouragement both morally and financially during a challenging period for the team.
At the meeting, captain Doãn Ngọc Tân could not hide his emotion as he accepted the support on behalf of the entire team. In the presence of teammates and fan representatives, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude: “Personally, I am deeply touched by the affection and support during the team’s toughest moments. This encouragement motivates the whole team to strive, unite, and give their best for the club’s colors.”
Beyond expressing general gratitude, Ngọc Tân specifically thanked those individuals who took the initiative to organize the fundraising, helping create this meaningful support. He also wished the fans good health and happiness in the new year – those who have always stood by the team in every circumstance.
Midfielder Lê Quốc Phương, representing the players receiving the support, said the funds helped both players and office staff have a more complete Tet celebration. Notably, striker Nguyễn Tiến Linh from CA TP.HCM also contributed 50 million VND and sent best wishes to Thanh Hóa for a successful new year, showing solidarity beyond club loyalties.
Alongside the support from the stands, coach and players Mai Xuân Hợp also gained extra motivation through a 300 million VND bonus from former chairman Nguyễn Văn Đệ after their 2-1 victory against CA TP HCM in round 13 of the 2025/26 V-League. These timely incentives have somewhat eased the financial pressure weighing on the team.
Before the 2026 Lunar New Year break, Thanh Hóa faced tight finances and a seriously weakened squad, with only about 13-14 players fit to compete, many playing despite injuries or not being in optimal condition. Nevertheless, under coach Mai Xuân Hợp’s leadership, the team maintains a resilient fighting spirit and will return as soon as possible in the year of Bính Ngọ to host CAHN at 6 PM on February 24 (the 8th day of Tet) in round 14 at home.
