OFFICIAL: Premier League club appoints their fourth head coach this season

Nottingham Forest has confirmed the appointment of their fourth manager during the 2025/26 campaign.

Nottingham Forest officially confirmed the hiring of Vitor Pereira as the club’s fourth head coach since the season began. The Portuguese coach takes over from Sean Dyche, who was dismissed midweek, signing a contract until June 2027.

Pereira inherits a squad positioned just above the relegation zone, one place and three points clear of danger. Previously, Dyche managed 25 matches after replacing Ange Postecoglou, who led the team for only eight games following his succession of Nuno Santo.

In their official statement, Forest said: “Nottingham Forest is pleased to announce that Vítor Pereira has been appointed as head coach on an 18-month contract.”

Pereira’s first match will be an away game against Fenerbahce in the Europa League, followed by a home fixture against Liverpool three days later. The 57-year-old strategist previously worked under owner Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiacos. He was dismissed by Wolves in November last year, despite successfully keeping the club in the Premier League the previous season.

Last season, Pereira was even nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season award after significantly improving Wolves’ performance. Forest hopes he will bring a similar positive impact at City Ground.

It is known that Marinakis’s long-term target is Marco Silva, who succeeded Pereira at Olympiacos and currently manages Fulham. However, it remains unclear whether Forest will attempt to persuade Silva to join the club once his contract expires this summer.

Forest’s squad will return to training on Monday after a weekend break, following their elimination by Wrexham in the third round of the FA Cup last month—a match considered the start of Dyche’s departure. Some senior players reportedly expressed concerns about his coaching methods, while Marinakis gradually lost faith in the club’s direction.

Notably, Fenerbahce is also one of the 13 clubs Pereira has managed. He had two spells in Istanbul during the 2015/16 and 2021 seasons.
