Thanh Hóa Football Club has managed to settle the two months’ unpaid wages for its players before the New Year, providing the team with some temporary relief despite unresolved financial challenges.
On the afternoon of February 15 (the 28th day of Tet), Thanh Hóa players began receiving their delayed salaries for the past two months. This move, occurring right before the Lunar New Year, partially eased the financial pressure on the club after a turbulent period.
According to several players, the club’s management fulfilled their promise by paying the full two months of overdue wages. Given that the team lacks many bonuses, this money holds significant value, allowing players and their families to better prepare for a proper Tet celebration. However, many acknowledge this is only a temporary fix.
In reality, the signing bonuses for the season remain unsettled, leaving the team internally unsettled. Some players describe the situation as a “time bomb” because the financial future depends on the club’s ownership transfer plan and the lifting of FIFA’s transfer ban—both issues still without clear progress.
During this difficult period, Thanh Hóa Football Club continues to receive support from various parties. Former Chairman Nguyễn Văn Đệ and supporters have donated nearly 700 million VND to boost the team’s morale. Additionally, a fundraising campaign inside and outside the province collected about 400 million VND, creating a positive ripple effect while the club faces significant pressure.
On the field, the coach and players of Head Coach Mai Xuân Hợp continue to show commendable fighting spirit. Thanh Hóa drew 2-2 with Thép Xanh Nam Định and won 2-1 against Công an TP.HCM at Thống Nhất Stadium. These valuable points helped the team temporarily rise to 11th place in the standings with 12 points, tied with Thép Xanh Nam Định and Becamex TP.HCM.
After receiving their salaries, the entire team returned home to celebrate Tet and will regroup on the third day of the new year to prepare for the rescheduled round 10 match of the 2025/26 V-League against CLB CAHN. For now, players put aside long-term worries to reunite with their families, hoping the new year will bring a more stable path for the Thanh Hóa club.
