Manchester United is close to gaining support from a star central defender as the race for a Champions League spot enters its decisive phase.

After more than three months of treatment for a lower back injury, the Dutch star is said to have set a timeline for his return, providing a major boost for Old Trafford's ambitions.

De Ligt suffered an injury during the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on November 30 and has missed 15 consecutive matches. Initially, former coach Ruben Amorim was optimistic about his early comeback. However, the 26-year-old defender’s recovery was not smooth when he faced a minor setback last month just as he was preparing to train with the first team again.

Nevertheless, the key point is that De Ligt does not require surgery. He is continuing his rehabilitation at the Carrington training center and maintaining a positive mindset. Under coach Michael Carrick, the Red Devils have maintained steady form, remaining unbeaten in their last five matches.
