Coach Hứa Hiển Vinh is set to become part of Becamex TP HCM Club and contribute to their youth development program.
According to Thanh Niên Newspaper, Coach Hứa Hiền Vinh has reached an agreement to join Becamex TP.HCM and will officially start his work on February 20, the fourth day of the Lunar New Year. This decision ends the long speculation about the future of the coach born in 1973. Adding an experienced figure early in the new year is seen as a sign of the southern club’s strong ambition to rebuild during this crucial phase of the season.
Earlier, rumors about Mr. Vinh joining Becamex TP.HCM had been circulating since the beginning of the 2025-2026 season. However, the long break when the V-League paused to allow national youth teams to compete delayed the plan. Amidst the excitement in Vietnamese football with the achievements of U22 and U23 teams regionally and continentally, Becamex TP.HCM has quietly prepared for transformation by strengthening the foundation of youth training — once a source of pride but has somewhat stagnated in recent years.
According to the plan, Coach Hứa Hiền Vinh will be in charge of the club’s U15 team. This is a key link in the strategy to revitalize the youth training system. Although starting at the youth level, considering Becamex TP.HCM’s past personnel usage, this could be just a stepping stone. If he makes a strong impression, there is a possibility that Mr. Vinh will be considered for a larger role with the first team — a path previously taken by some coaches promoted from internal youth training roles.
Coach Hứa Hiền Vinh was born on January 1, 1973, in Ho Chi Minh City. He played mainly as a defender but could also play as a forward when needed. He is one of the few players to have succeeded at both of the city’s traditional clubs. Wearing the Công an TP.HCM jersey, he won the national championship in 1995 and the National Cup in 1998. Later, after moving to Cảng Sài Gòn, he continued his success by winning the V-League in 2000, marking a golden era for Ho Chi Minh City football.
After retiring, he spent many years at the PVF training center, directly involved in coaching and developing numerous young talents. He led Phố Hiến Club (now PVF-CAND) in the first division and served as an assistant for Vietnam U23, contributing to the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship victory and the ASIAD 19 campaign. In 2024, he was entrusted to coach Vietnam U19 at regional competitions and the U20 Asian qualifiers, showing the trust from football experts.
Currently, Becamex TP.HCM faces significant pressure with only 12 points, sitting just above the relegation zone. The gap to the second-last team is only one point, although they are still five points ahead of the bottom team. In this context, the arrival of Coach Hứa Hiền Vinh — who holds an AFC Pro license and understands southern Vietnamese football well — is expected to bring a fresh boost, not only for the youth system but also to open sustainable pathways for the club’s near future.
