VFF shows concern for the Vietnam women's futsal team spending Tet away from home

Vietnam Football Federation Executive Committee member Tran Anh Minh will attend in Japan to accompany the Vietnam women's futsal team.

While Hanoi Police is busy competing in the AFC Champions League Two 2025–26, the Vietnam women's futsal national team is the only national squad required to train continuously through the 2026 Lunar New Year. Instead of celebrating with their families during the early days of the year, the entire team sets aside personal matters to focus on the important mission ahead.

This is because the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship will officially start in less than a week in Thailand. The tight schedule forces Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team to maintain a high training intensity, focus on perfecting tactics, improve fitness, and strengthen team cohesion before entering the regional tournament.

Notably, on February 17 (the first day of the 2026 Lunar New Year), Vietnam Football Federation Executive Committee member Tran Anh Minh will be in Japan to encourage the entire team. This timely support is expected to boost morale and help the Vietnam women's futsal team stay determined to achieve their goal of conquering the regional competition.

On February 16 (the 29th day of the last lunar month of the Year of the Snake), the team arrived in Japan to begin their overseas training phase. There, the Vietnam women's futsal team will play two friendly matches against strong Japanese futsal clubs to gain experience, test the lineup, and assess the performance of each position.

Despite being away from home during this sacred time, the coaching staff and players strive to recreate the traditional Tet atmosphere. Before departure, the team prepared familiar dishes such as banh chung and Tet jams to celebrate the New Year together abroad, easing their homesickness somewhat.

The custom of giving lucky money at the beginning of the year is also observed on the first day. Red envelopes symbolizing wishes for luck, peace, and success have uplifted the players' spirits ahead of the important tournament.

According to the training schedule from February 16 to 21, Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team will play two friendly matches against Bardral Urayasu Club on February 17 and 19. These games provide an important opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate performance, try out the lineup, and help players enhance their coordination and decision-making under high-intensity match conditions.
