The Football Association of Thailand continues to hold the King's Cup in a different province each year.
The Football Association of Thailand plans to take the "War Elephants" — the national football team — to compete in various provinces with the goal of boosting the economy, tourism, society, and national pride through activities organized by each province.
Following the tremendous success and enthusiastic support from Thai football fans for the national team at international tournaments held in Sisaket, Chiang Mai, Songkhla, and Kanchanaburi provinces, the Football Association of Thailand recognizes the significance of this and plans to organize the King's Cup friendly tournament during the FIFA Days in November, from the 9th to the 17th, 2026. This tournament will feature a four-team format.
Provinces interested and ready to host the 52nd King's Cup, an international A-level match within the FIFA Days framework, are invited to express their interest. The aim is to develop sports management capabilities, upgrade infrastructure and equipment, promote sports tourism, and stimulate the economy.
For provinces that meet the basic requirements to host international matches, such as: playing venues, laboratories, and facilities that meet the minimum standards of the Thai Football League or AFC (since this is a four-team tournament, there must be at least two training grounds and four locker rooms at the venue).
The playing venue must have a standard lighting system with an intensity of at least 1,800 lux, and at least three training grounds with lighting intensity of at least 800 lux. There must be 4-5 star hotels with enough accommodation for all staff, including teams, referees, and event organizers, offering international and halal cuisine. Transportation from international and domestic airports must be nearby, along with sufficient event management personnel.
These regulations represent an upgrade and improvement of infrastructure and equipment, such as playing and training fields, for provincial sports stadiums. This will contribute to Thailand having more stadiums meeting international standards in the future, according to the regulations of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
