Red alert on 7 Manchester United superstars

Manchester United is approaching a pivotal summer with seven players having just 18 months remaining on their contracts, and it is predicted that at least two will depart to help manage the wage structure and reshape the team.

The January transfer window has closed, and Manchester United is now looking ahead to the summer, especially focusing on players whose contracts expire in 2027. With only 18 months left, this is a critical moment for management to decide whether to renew contracts, sell early to gain transfer fees, or risk losing them for free later.

Amid Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s push for wage reduction and financial restructuring, every decision must be carefully considered. Casemiro is almost certain to leave at the end of the season, while Harry Maguire is likely to receive a contract extension. However, the main focus now lies on seven players whose contracts expire in 2027.

Bruno Fernandes stands out as the most notable case. At 31 years old, he remains a key leader and has shown strong performance under Michael Carrick, scoring and assisting crucial goals. However, the allure of the Saudi Pro League combined with his high salary raises questions about the future of the MU captain. If given a clear tactical role, MU should keep him; otherwise, this might be the last chance to secure a significant transfer fee.

Luke Shaw presents a different challenge. After several seasons plagued by injuries, he is gradually regaining form. Yet, due to his age and injury history, MU must consider carefully. Selling Shaw is unlikely to bring a large sum, so the sensible option is to wait another season before making a decision.

Altay Bayindir is seen as one of the two most likely to leave. The Turkish goalkeeper remains a backup and may seek a starting opportunity elsewhere as he enters his prime. With Radek Vitek potentially returning from loan, MU has sufficient alternatives if Bayindir departs.

Toby Collyer faces a similar risk. After several unremarkable loan spells and recurring injuries, the young midfielder has yet to convince the coaching staff of his long-term value. Without a breakthrough, he could be placed on the transfer list this summer.

Conversely, Lisandro Martinez deserves a contract extension if he maintains good fitness. Kobbie Mainoo is the midfield’s future, and MU needs to secure him with a new deal soon. Harry Amass should also receive a short-term extension to continue his development through loan agreements.

The upcoming summer will be a test for MU’s rebuilding strategy. At least two players might leave Old Trafford, while key young talents need to be retained to build a solid foundation for the future.
